3 of the 4 daughters of George Kempthorne Watts are in this photograph: from left to right Winifred Kempthorne Watts (b. Nov 1895), Charlotte Muriel Watts (b. 1890) and Ethel Dorothy Watts (b. 1888). There was a 4th daughter too, Marjorie Eleanor (b 1898). G.K. Watts (1852 London - 1919 Dehra Dun) trained as a civil engineer at Cooper’s Hill and spent his working life in the Public Works Department. In 1890 he had been an Executive Engineer at Hyderabad, in 1897 he had moved to Shillong (Assam) and in 1899 to Lucknow.. His first wife, Ethel Grace, died in 1901 and in November 1903 he married Jessie Elizabeth Elder Rait, in Raini Tal. In 1907 he retired and moved to Nigeria where he was Commissioner of Works.
