The memorial to those murdered during the second massacre at Cawnpore during the Great Mutiny in 1857. This monument was originally placed over the well in the Bibigarh in Cawnpore into which the bodies of the massacred were thrown by the rebels. Memorial to Brigadier-General Sir Henry Havelock in the Alumbagh Memorial Gardens near Lucknow. Havelock with Sir James Outram was responsible for the first Relief of Lucknow on 25th September 1857. He died at Lucknow 24th November 1857 just before the completion of the evacuation by Sir Colin Campbell follwing the second relief. - IMG 1909

The Battle of Plassey took place on 23rd June 1757 between the forces of Siraj-ud-Daula, Nawab of Bengal and the British forces of Robert Clive (Clive of India), supported by those of Mir Jaffa who, after the battle, displaced Siraj as Nawab of Bengal.
